Road rage Lock Rss

We live in a street opposite a school and this year there's a mum who is driving me insane (we didn't live here last school year).

We live in an alcove part of the street and our driveway is shared with another house (splits at the top) and the entry is as wide as a normal driveway. Next to our entry is s gutter. So imagine if you will an upside down L - our driveway is the small bit and the gutter is the long bit.

This mum, in a nice big 4WD, keeps parking on the long section of the L with the nose of her car up near our driveway entry. She has even moved mine and my neighbours wheelie bins to park there!

Today I pull in to the alcove and beep her, she comes to my car and says
"I'm just waiting for my child"
Me: I'm just wanting to get into my driveway. You can't block my driveway.
Her: I'm parked against the gutter so where I'm parked is ok.
Me: Your nose is at driveway and I can't get in. You need to move.
Her: But I'm not parked illegally!
I STARE AT HER
Her: Fine I'll move.
She takes two steps comes back and says "Are you coming home at this time tomorrow or can I park here again?"

Ok - so I may not have been nice when I said no you $%$#%% can't park here, but I'm hoping she got the picture!

GRRR!!!! Seriously is it too hard to understand you can't block a driveway?

I don't think its unreasonable to expect to be able to get in and out of my own freaking driveway!
That would be a pain in the ass!!!!
Even to move your bins is so so rude you know what I would do lol is invest in some witches hat and line them up where she parks ba ha ha ha laugh
She might get the hint lol
Just brought a new rd code my hubby and I today, it is still illegal

In qld you can ring the police because your not aloud to block people driveways.

Years ago my parents live near a school & this bus driver park right across the driveway and my dad came home. He park his car on the side of the street & yelled out to me to ring the police that a stupid bus driver was across the driveway. The bus driver just look at dad. I yelled out that the police where on their way & the bus driver quickly moved and since then no bus park over the drive way, it just parents who do it and i let fly.

We got a neighbour (lives across the road) who got 2 driveways who loves to park close to our drive way. I had to ring hubby to tell him to be careful when he comes home. I even said one day that i was sick of this car parking so close to the driveway. Now she parks away from our driveway.
Good on you for saying something.

Update if she does it again

Ring your local council office tell them its been going on for a bit and you have even spoken to her and she still wont move, they will come out and give her ticket! dont call the police its a waste of their time and they wont come come out.

hopefully if she gets a fine she might get the hint

1st baby due start of sep

I would take photos with a date sign held up also and email them to your local council the same day, and ask for yellow no parking lines to be painted there.

i feel your pain. i too share a driveway with my neighbour but she runs a daycare and no matter how many times both her and i have asked people not to park in the part we share they still do and then i cant get in or out and its always and the worst time. Worst part is there are plenty of other places for them to park they just cant be bothered.

Hope she stops parking there and gets the hint after today

mum to one goregous boy

We live in a school area too, which is why I checked this law for you, we quite often get blocked in (okay we don't drive but still) at school time, as people think it is easier to get there kids since they are only being two ticks, but often they stand yabbering for 20mins, and the kids chase Skitty (poor cat is getting from all angles now a days)

It just annoys me that they feel "entitled" to do what they want without a care for anyone else (or your cat!)

I'm definitely going to take photos. I have no where to be tomorrow afternoon but i'm going to leave to see what happens. It seems bitchy of me to do it but today isn't the first time it has happened.

I'm kinda glad I'm not the only one going through this. Doesn't make it seem like I'm making it worse than what it really is!
yep its illegal for her to park like that. We are having trouble with someone down the road from us. we live in a double culdesac and he parks his 3 trailers on the rd so to turn the corner to come up our part you have to go on the opposite side of the road and as it is a blind corner risk hitting someone coming the other way. 2 of our neighbours have spoken to him before and he hadnt stopped so 4 of us have rung the council and so far this week he has moved his trailers and not parked there.....will see if it stays that way. One of our neighbours is a tow truck driver so had a chat to the cops about it and they said they couldnt really do much unless the council had issued notices/fines and the person hadnt complied.

Some people are so rude!

We often have similar issues. We have a bus lay-by right next to our driveway. Because it is *next* to the driveway (i.e. not blocking it) it isn't a problem if buses are stopped there. However, very often people stop there to pick up someone who is expected off the bus, or to make a phone call, and because they know they shouldn't be there in case a bus comes, they pull as far forward as possible so that they are blocking our driveway.

If I'm trying to get out of the driveway then usually a honk and an evil stare is enough to shift them. But if I'm trying to get in then it's a huge problem. If I'm on that side of the street then I'm behind them and they don't even see me. If I'm on the other side then it's such a busy road that again they probably don't even see, or they might eventually move but I'll have already missed a break in the traffic that would have allowed me to drive in and I'll be sat waiting for another five minutes until there is another break.

In my case though, it's different people all the time so there isn't much I can do. In OP's case, if it is the same woman all the time, I'd definitely be reporting her. So rude!

She takes two steps comes back and says "Are you coming home at this time tomorrow or can I park here again?"

^^ What an absolute moron! <img src='https://www.huggies.com.au/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<_<' />
